TariffTag Terms of Use

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Acceptance

By using TariffTag, you agree to these Terms of Use and the TariffTag Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What the app does

TariffTag is a free educational tool that helps users search official tariff schedules, review possible tariff classifications, and explore estimates for imports involving the United States and Canada. It is operated by Grand River Professional Services Inc. and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency or political party.

Not customs, legal, tax, or financial advice

TariffTag provides general information, not professional advice, a customs ruling, a binding tariff classification, or a quote of duties owed. Do not rely on the app as the sole basis for an import, purchase, pricing, sourcing, tax, compliance, or legal decision. For a binding decision or a high-value transaction, consult the relevant customs authority, a licensed customs broker, trade counsel, or another qualified professional.

Classification and estimate limits

A plain-language search can return several plausible tariff codes. You are responsible for selecting and verifying the code that matches the product's materials, composition, use, condition, value, country of origin, and other legally relevant facts. Country of origin is not always the same as the country from which a product was shipped.

Displayed rates and estimates may omit or misapply additional duties, exclusions, quotas, safeguards, anti-dumping or countervailing duties, surtaxes, taxes, fees, preferential treatment rules, de minimis rules, Chapter 99 measures, or other requirements. A calculator result is an illustration based on the inputs and assumptions shown; it is not a prediction of the retail price or the final amount assessed at the border.

Official data can change

Tariff schedules, proclamations, regulations, trade remedies, court decisions, and administrative guidance can change without notice and may take effect before the app or an upstream service reflects them. Source systems may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or corrected later. The official law, tariff schedule, customs decision, and transaction-specific assessment control if they differ from the app.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for verifying important information with current official sources, providing accurate inputs, complying with applicable import and export laws, maintaining your device and network security, and using the app only for lawful purposes.

Acceptable use

You may not disrupt or overload the service or official data sources, bypass rate limits or security controls, use automated access that materially harms availability, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, misrepresent the app as an official government service, or use TariffTag for unlawful activity.

Availability and changes

We may correct, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue the app or any source integration at any time. We do not guarantee that any government service, relay, feature, country, classification, rate, or estimate will always be available, complete, current, or error-free.

Free access and optional support

TariffTag is intended to remain free to use. If we provide an optional donation or support link, a contribution is voluntary, does not purchase tariff results or preferential treatment, and does not influence classifications or estimates. A third-party fundraising or payment provider may apply its own terms and refund rules.

Apple terms

If you obtain TariffTag through Apple's App Store, Apple's applicable Media Services Terms and end-user licence agreement also apply. Apple is not responsible for the app's tariff data, classifications, estimates, support, or maintenance except as required by applicable law or Apple's terms.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TariffTag is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grand River Professional Services Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, business interruption, customs delays, penalties, assessments, or decisions arising from use of or reliance on TariffTag. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app or law changes. The revised terms will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections and rights that apply where you live remain unaffected.
